MCC golfers six shots back after first round at CWC

RIVERTON, Wyo. – A cold-front moved into Wyoming Thursday and cooled off the McCook Community College golfers as Eastern Wyoming leads the Central Wyoming Tournament by six shots.

The Lancers shot a 302 to lead the field. MCC posted a 308, Central Wyoming is five shots back of MCC in third and Otero is in fourth, 12 shots off the lead.

"It started off nicely but when the cold front came in, the conditions became very tough," said MCC Coach Tyler Loop. "Putts were not falling, and we became a bit impatient and forced things too much, which led to a few too many bogies."

Freshman Cade Cryer (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) led MCC Thursday with a 74, he is one shot back off the individual lead and is in third place.

Ethan Gough (sophomore, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) shot a 76 and is in a sixth-place tie.

After sitting out the first week with an injury, Brayden Dahl (sophomore, Outer West Durban, South Africa) shot a 78 Thursday and is in 13th place.

Spencer Wishon (sophomore, Oberlin, Kan.) shot an 80, Payton Craw (sophomore, McCook) an 81, and Jordan Bingham (sophomore, South Jordan, Utah) shot an 83.

Competing as an individual, Cayden Wynne (sophomore, Lincoln) shot a 78.

"Tomorrow will be better, it has to be to win," Loop said.

The tournament continues Friday.
