Remainder of Region IX round-robin softball cancelled
LAMAR, Colo. The Saturday and Sunday games of the Region IX round-robin softball tournament were cancelled after COVID-19 contact tracing linked umpires who's been near someone who tested positive.Coaches are expected to meet via Zoom Monday to make up the four remaining games each team was to have played over the remainder of the weekend. All teams played two games Friday with McCook Community College beating Otero Junior College 3-2 and losing to Trinidad Junior College 13-3.
MCC, 9-3 on the season is looking to make up lost weekend games with Lamar, Northeastern Community College, Luna Community College and Western Nebraska.
Next on the schedule for the Lady Indians are a couple Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference road doubleheaders at Beatrice and Columbus. MCC will play Southeast Community College at noon on Sunday, March 14, then play at Central Community College March 18 at 1 p.m.
MCC's home opener is set for March 27 at 1 p.m. against Trinidad State.
