MCC golfers finish second to Eastern Wyoming at CWC

RIVERTON, Wyo. – Despite a day of improved play from the McCook Community College golf team, it was Eastern Wyoming that claimed the Central Wyoming College tournament Friday.

The Lancers shot a 602 to win the tournament. MCC came back from a 308 on Thursday to post a 301 on a cold Friday.

"It was a solid score for the conditions, but we were not able to make up any ground," said MCC Coach Tyler Loop.

The host school Central Wyoming finished third with a 632 and Otero fourth with a 638.

"We've got some things to work, mainly game management, but I still think we have a good chance next week in Torrington," Loop said.

Freshman Cade Cryer (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) fired back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish in second place to Eastern Wyoming's George Cordall by two shots. Cryer finished with a four-over par 148.

Ethan Gough (sophomore, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) shot a 73 on Friday to finish one shot back of Cryer for third place.

Brayden Dahl (sophomore, Outer West Durban, South Africa) finished in a tie for seventh place after shooting a 78 on Thursday and a 74 on Friday. He was eight over for the tournament.

Jordan Bingham (sophomore, South Jordan, Utah) finished in a tie for 18th place with a 163. Payton Craw (sophomore, McCook) shot a 164 and Spencer Wishon (sophomore, Oberlin, Kan.) a 168.

Competing as an individual, Cayden Wynne (sophomore, Lincoln) posted a 158 to finish in a tie for 13th place.

The Region IX circuit continues Thursday and Friday at Torrington, Wyo. where Eastern Wyoming will host the two-day tournament.

After MCC and the Lancers have both won a tournament they are tied in the team standings after two weeks with 17 points.
