MCC golfers one shot back of Lancers at Eastern Wyoming meet

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College golf team opened the Eastern Wyoming tournament Thursday with a 289 and are one shot out of the lead.

"We didn't fire on all cylinders today, but we scrambled very well to shoot a solid one-over 289, which is one back of Eastern Wyoming," said MCC Coach Tyler Loop.

The Lancers lead the field on their home course shooting even golf on the day. Northeastern Junior College is in third place, six shots off the lead and five shots back of MCC.

"We are a good second-day team, so I like our chances," Loop said.

Ethan Gough (sophomore, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) and Cade Cryer (freshman, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) both posted first-round 71s Thursday and are in a third-place tie in the individual chase.

Eastern Wyoming's Oscar Behle leads the field with a five-under 67. Trey Kuntz of Northeastern Junior College is in second having shot a four-under par 68.

Jordan Bingham (sophomore, South Jordan, Utah) shot a one-over 73 and is in a tie for seventh place. Sophomore Brayden Dahl (Outer West Durban, South Africa) is in a tie for ninth place posting a two-over 74.

Spencer Wishon (sophomore, Oberlin, Kan.) shot a 77 and sophomore Cayden Wynne (sophomore, Lincoln) carded an 80.

Competing as an individual Payton Craw (sophomore, McCook) shot an 80

The tournament concludes Friday.
