MCC golfers leading Lancers after first round at Lamar

LAMAR, Colo. – The MCC golf team is in first place after the first round of the Lamar Community College two-day tournament. MCC shot a 5-under par 275 Thursday to lead Eastern Wyoming by eight shots in the two-day tournament.

"We stressed keeping the ball in play this week in practice and when this team does that, they put up good scores," said MCC Coach Tyler Loop.

Lamar is in third place 15 back of MCC and Northeastern Junior College is fourth 17 shots behind MCC.

"It was really important getting this lead today, now we need to finish the job tomorrow," Loop said. "We couldn't ask for a better team and result on National Coach's Day."

Freshman Cade Cryer (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) is in a three-way tie for the lead after one round. He shot a 3-under par 67. Ethan Gough (sophomore, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) is in fourth place with a 2-under 68 and Brayden Dahl (sophomore, Outer West Durban, South Africa) shot a 1-under 69 and is in a tie for fifth place.

Cayden Wynne (sophomore, Lincoln) was 1-over on the day and is tied for ninth place. Jordan Bingham (sophomore, South Jordan, Utah) shot a 72 and Payton Craw (sophomore, McCook) carded a 79.

Spencer Wishon (sophomore, Oberlin, Kan.) competed as an individual and shot a 75.
