Genevieve Hopkinson is in her first year as assistant coach for MCC. She was a defensive specialist for the Lady Indians from 2019-2021. She led the team in digs per set (4.0) in the 2020-2021 season.

Despite spending her first year at MCC on the sidelines, she was voted team captain for the 2021 season, and named the team’s "Chief of the Year" – given annually to the player who "puts their heart and soul into every workout, practice and match." During her sophomore year she received the Holly Myers Female Teammate of the year as the top MCC female teammate among all student athletes.

Named MCC’s student commencement speaker in 2021, she went on to Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. where she continued her volleyball career for three seasons and had 571 career digs in 92 matches. She graduated in December of 2023 with a degree in education studies and a minor in business administration.

At Marshall, she coached club teams of 12 and 16-year olds and also had an internship with the athletic department.
