MCC freshman Ethan Murdoch named Player of the Week

For the second straight week a McCook Community College player has been named the Region IX player of the week. On Tuesday, Ethan Murdoch, a freshman from Swift Current, Saskatchewan was announced as the Empire League's top player.

In taking a 2-1 series win over Northeastern Junior College, Murdoch hit .500 with four home runs in 10 at bats, four RBIs and four runs scored in helping MCC win the series. He hit two home runs on Sunday and homered in both games Monday and had 17 total bases for the series,

On the season he's batting .316, with a .453 on-base average, and slugging .842. Through 12 games he's batted in 16 with four doubles and five home runs.

Murdoch follows as the region's top player, one week after teammate Daniel Bannon (Sydney, Australia) received the award.
