Two MCC Baseball players moving on to four-year programs

McCook Community College baseball Coach Jon Olsen has announced that sophomores Matt Hamilton of Aurora, Colo., and K.J. Hartline of Mitchell are continuing their college baseball careers.

Hamilton, a 5-11 infielder, has signed on to Neumann University in Aston Pa. a NCAA Division III school and Hartline, a 5-10 outfielder, is moving on to Missouri Valley in Marshall Mo., an NAIA Division I school.

"I'm really happy for both of these players, in addition to their work on the field, both are extremely good students, have excellent work ethic and are great people," said Olsen.

Hamilton played in 11 games for MCC this year and batted .318 with six runs scored and six RBIs. He played in 12 games as a freshman and batted .231 with 11 RBIs.

"Matt joined us last year at semester and really did a nice job for us," Olsen said. "His season got cut short this year but he was having really good start to the year prior to that."

Hartline saw limited action in his two years with MCC appearing in 13 games, mostly as a defensive replacement in the outfield.

"KJ is an excellent defensive outfielder and had a nice role for us over the past couple years," Olsen said.

The Vikings compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

"I really want to wish both of these guys the very best moving forward and I know they will be successful whatever they choose to do," Olsen said.
