Bulldogs capitalize on MCC errors in Saturday sweep

CLARENDON, Texas – Eight McCook errors led to nine unearned runs Saturday as the Clarendon College men swept both ends of a doubleheader, 8-0 and 9-5.

MCC was held to just three singles in the first game and committed seven errors in the second game which led to seven unearned runs.

Clarendon improves to 4-1under former MCC Assistant Kregg Snook.

MCC falls to 2-4. The two teams will wrap up the three-game series Sunday starting at noon.

GAME 1 – Clarendon 8, McCook CC 0: An MCC error to lead off the third inning opened the scoring door for Clarendon. The Bulldogs got a three-run homer and added three more runs to take a 6-0 lead. Sophomore Cade Webber (Kelowna, British Columbia) pitched the first three innings, allowing four earned runs, four hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Ethan Badcock (Adelade, Australia) freshman, came on in the fourth and allowed two more runs in the fourth. He went three innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. MCC's offense was limited to three singles, one each by Ethan Murdoch (Swift Current, Saskatchewan) in the third inning, one by Josh Maysonave (Austin, Texas) in the sixth, and one by Trent Elshire (Plattsmouth) in the seventh.

GAME 2 – Clarendon 8, McCook CC 5: After trailing 2-0 through the first two innings, MCC got on the scoreboard in the third. Freshman Zeke Minic (Thornton, Colo.) led off with a single and MCC loaded the bases with a pair of walks. A doubleplay scored the first MCC run, Ethan Murdoch tied the game with a triple and gave MCC a 3-2 edge scoring on a double off the bat of Josh Maysonave. Freshman Myles Chabi (Sydney, Australia) got the start and pitched three innings, allowing four hits and no earned runs. He walked three. A leadoff error in the fourth led to five unearned runs and a 7-2 Clarendon lead. Sophomore reliever Jelle Bing (Heerhagoaard, Netherlands) came on after a pair of MCC errors and two Bulldog singles set the table for the big inning. Murdoch led off the MCC seventh and after one out freshman Jason Serafinchon (Spruce Grove, Alberta) doubled him to third, and scored on a passed ball. Serafinchon scored on a two-out single from Riley Watson (sophomore, Sydney, Australia) to make it a 7-5 game. Clarendon got those two runs back in the bottom of the seventh on a two out rally. Bing pitched 3.2 innings, surrendered six hits and two earned runs. He struck out four. Freshman Jereniel Herrera (Panama City, Panama) went the final 1.1 innings allowing one hit, one walk and he fanned one. Murdoch, Minic and Watson all had two-hit games. MCC committed seven errors in the game leading to seven unearned runs.
