Sophomore Daegen Morcom the latest to earn player of the week honors

McCook Community College sophomore outfielder Daegen Morcom, has been named Region IX Player of the Week.

The 6-0 outfielder from Winnipeg, Manitoba had eight hits in 14 at bats last week (a .571 average) with a double, seven runs scored, 12 RBIs and three home runs helping MCC to a 2-2 record. He drove in five runs and went four-for-four with two homers on April 5 at Colby and went three-for-five April 7 at Scottsbluff against Western Nebraska with six RBIs.

This year, in 13 games played, he has made the most of his opportunities batting .424 with five home runs and 19 RBIs. He is slugging .939 on the year. For his career, he is batting .318 in 66 at bats with seven home runs, 26 RBIs in 28 games, with a .390 on-base average and a .712 slugging average.

This is the 11th week of balloting for Region IX player and pitcher of the week honors and the sixth time an MCC player has earned weekly honors. Morcom joins three-time player of the week Ethan Murdoch, and pitchers of the week Myles Chabi and Owen Lester.
