MCC’s Aiden Johnson named pitcher of the week

McCook Community College sophomore Aiden Johnson has been named the Region IX Pitcher of the Week April 15-21.

The right hander threw a complete game shutout in his start against Luna Community College. He took the mound in Game 1 and went the distance in the 6-0 win. He pitched seven innings without allowing a run, while giving up three hits. Johnson also struck out 11 and walked only one.

In 10 games and 48 innings pitched this season, the Westminster, Colo., native is 7-2 and tied for the league lead in wins, second in strikeouts with 65 and third with a 3.54 ERA. He has allowed 55 hits and 12 walks.

For his career he has appeared in 24 games and is 10-3 with a save, four complete games and 142 strikeouts in 106 innings.
