MCC’s Brayden Dahl to golf next year at CU-Colorado Springs

McCook Community College sophomore golfer Brayden Dahl has signed his letter of intent to golf next season for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.

"This is a very solid Division 2 program that is very lucky to have him," said MCC Golf Coach Tyler Loop.

Dahl, from Outer West Durban, South Africa, has a scoring average 73.3 so far this season at MCC. He ranks fourth in Region IX with that average gross score and despite missing the first tournament of the year with an injury, he is tied for 12th in the standings with 16 points.

Twice this past fall, he posted scores of 69 – Sept. 16 at Eastern Wyoming and Oct. 6 at Lamar.

He finished in a third-place tie at Lamar with a two-day, one-under 135, which earned six standings points. He picked up five points at Torrington with a three-under 141 in the Eastern Wyoming Tournament. He also earned standings points in the tournaments at the Otero and Central Wyoming tournaments.

"Brayden has been a great leader for our team these last two years, shooting great scores and achieving high academic marks," Loop said.

Dahl was named to the Deans List in the fall of 2021, spring of 2022 and fall of 2022. In addition, following his freshman year he was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association all-academic second team, for student-athletes with grade-point averages between 3.80 and 3.99.

His new school, UCCS, recently recorded its 37th straight semester of the Mountain Lions athletes earning at least a 3.00 GPA overall.

As a freshman, Dahl finished sixth in the individual standings among all Region IX golfers. He claimed the top medal at the fall Heritage Hills meet with his two-day 147. He shot a 67 at NJC and finished that fall tournament with a 139, and a second-place finish.

He is a business and science major at MCC.
