McCook Community College freshman softball player Sydney Erlandson has accepted an offer to play at Siena College, an NCAA Division school in Loundonville, N.Y.

"I am very proud of Sydney, her work ethic in the classroom and on the field put her in this position," said MCC Coach Kevin Kaalberg. "We wish her the best."

Erlandson, a graduate of St. Croix Preparatory in Minnesota played in 59 games as a freshman, mostly at catcher, where she batted .375 with seven doubles, one home run and 34 RBIs. She had a .439 on-base average and led the team with 55 singles.

She was named to the all-Region IX team as a catcher and was an honorable mention selection on the Omaha World-Herald's all-Nebraska JUCO Midlands team.

Her new school, the Saints are coming off a 32-23 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and finished the regular season losing in the MAAC Tournament championships to Canisius.
