Golden Eagles top MCC women in Friday game, 70-52

The Laramie County Community College Women downed MCC Friday at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center 70-52.

"We have to be a tougher team," said MCC Coach Brandon Pritchett. "We have to be a tougher physical team, we have to be a tougher mental team."

Laramie County improved to 9-4 with the win, shooting 48.9 percent from the field and making nine of 16 shots from the 3-point line (56.3 percent) and 19 of 29 from the line (65.5 percent).

"They came out and played a great game.," Pritchett said.

MCC shot 38 percent from the field, made two of 13 3-pointers (15.4 percent) and went 12 of 16 from the free-throw line (75 percent).

"We have to do a better job of making shots," said Pritchett.

Vanessa Jurewicz (sophomore, Stockholm, Sweden) paced MCC offensively with 14 points. Freshman Marta Moya Perez (Alboraya, Spain) added 11 points.

Freshman Rebecca Dunn (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was MCC's top rebounder with five.

"I still really believe in this team, and I think we can be very successful in our region, we just have things we need to fix," Pritchett said.

MCC, 2-9, will continue the homestand Saturday taking on Eastern Wyoming at 2 p.m.
