Baseball series at NJC pushed back a day by cold temperatures

The McCook Community College baseball team's scheduled Region IX opening weekend series with Northeastern Junior College has been pushed back a day to take advantage of warmer weather.

Instead of the three-game series starting Saturday in Sterling, Colo., MCC will take on the Plainsmen Sunday starting with a nine-inning game starting at 1 p.m. (MT) followed by a pair of games Monday starting at noon (MST.)

Both teams are in Empire League North Division. MCC is 5-4 on the season. The Plainsmen started the season losing eight games, then won six straight before losing a series finale at Miles Community College.

The NJC Athletic department is charging admission at all home baseball games this year. The NJC box office is open five days prior to each game and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance. For NJC ticket information please visit: https://gonjc.com/information/ticketing

OTHER SCHEDULING NOTES. MCC is set to open the home slate March 2 with two games against Northeastern Community College starting at 1:30 p.m. Also MCC will play a pair doubleheader against Trinidad State Saturday and Sunday, starting both days at 2 .m.

Last week's game with Garden City Community College, which was postponed because of cold weather, will be made up March 29 at 3 p.m.

MCC has also added a doubleheader to the schedule against the Doane JV team. That game will be in Crete March 23 at 1 p.m.
