MCC Golfers take title at 4-HIM Classic at Luna Vista

DALLAS, Texas –The McCook Community College golf team came back from two shots down at the start of the day to win the 4-HIM Classic at Luna Vista by 13 shots over Central Christian College of Texas.

"We started slow this week but finished very well and came back to earn the team title," said MCC Coach Tyler Loop. MCC shot a 291 on Tuesday, and a plus-44 for the three-round tournament.

Central Christian shot a 921 and Jacksonville College (Texas) finished in third place with a 926.

Three MCC golfers finished in the top 10. Cade Cryer (freshman, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) finished in second place with a three-day, seven-over par 223. Sophomore Ethan Gough (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) was 11-over and shot a 227. Cayden Wynne (sophomore, Lincoln) finished in a ninth-place tie. He shot a 230 – 14-over. Brayden Dahl (sophomore, Outer West Durban, South Africa) finished in a tie for 11 place. He was 16-over and scored a 232.

Sophomore Jordan Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) shot a 235, Spencer Wishon (sophomore, Oberlin, Kan.) had a 248, Payton Craw (sophomore, McCook) finished at 250, freshman Hunter Hansen (McCook) shot a 273 and freshman Ashton Koetter (Seward) had a 290.

"This was a valuable tournament to start the year with a very good experience," said Loop. "We still have plenty to work on but this round will go a long way towards our overall confidence."

MCC will be in Garden City Monday and Tuesday for the Garden City Community College Tournament.
